Information Regarding Wells 16 and 18 in Atwater
Location of Wells:
Well 16 is located on Granite Drive, and Well 18 is located on E. Juniper Avenue. A map showing all well sites can be found on the City of Atwater’s website: https://www.atwater.org/departments/publicworks/.Operational Status:
Wells 16 and 18 are currently delivering water to the City of Atwater’s water system.Source of Contamination:
The source of contamination involving the chemical compounds PFHxS and PFOS is currently undetermined. The City is actively exploring all options.Testing Schedule:
The City conducts testing on these wells on a rotating basis as required by the State of California.Remediation Measures:
The City utilizes granulated activated carbon (GAC) treatment to address contamination. The GAC is replaced on a regular, recurring basis to maintain effective treatment.
