What's Happening Now

2012 Spring Clean-Up

The City of Atwater's annual Spring Clean up will be held on Saturday, March 17, 2012. For more information, in English click here, para Espanol, oprime aqui.

Water Division

With few exceptions (problematic locations, incorrect/inaccurate computer inputs etc.), the Water Division has fulfilled the mandate set by Assembly Bill No. 2572 for installation of water meters in all residences built 1992 and after.  Residents may still observe staff membrs in their neighborhoods as follow up procedures are required in some instances.

The Water Division will now continue working towards implementing a second phase of meter installation by surveying various sections of town, collecting pertinent information from addresses in these areas.  Some locations are "meter ready" while the remainder will require substantial improvements.

The City has set up a Water Meter Hotline for any questions regarding Water Meter installation.  Please leave your name, phone number and your concerns and your questions will be answered as soon as possible.  The phone number is 357-6272.

Sidewalk Action Plan

Starting January 2011, the Atwater Public Works Department will start the replacement of identified hazardous sidewalks city wide.  To view the Damaged/Hazardous Sidewalk Replacement Plan click here.

Embedded Crosswalks

The newest device has been installed at Bellevue School on Bellevue Road.  Along with the sidewalk, there are visibly lit signs warning of the crosswalk ahead. The signs turn on as the pedestrian crossing sign is activated.  The installation of the crosswalk was a joint venture between the City of Atwater Streets Division and the Atwater Elementary School District's maintenance crews.  http://www.atwater.org/index.cfm?page=316216
