City Clerk
Overview
The City Clerk is the custodian of the City’s official records. The City Clerk's Office is the first point of contact for the residents of the City of Atwater. The City Clerk’s Office provides notary and information services to the public, City Council and City staff in a professional manner, with impartiality, courtesy and tact.
The City Clerk records the proceedings of the City Council and Redevelopment Agency meetings; prepares and distributes agendas and minutes for these meetings; prepares and processes ordinances and resolutions. The City Clerk provides overall keeping of historical, legal and official records of the City Council and all City departments.
Other duties include retention of legal documents, administration of the State Political Reform Act and the City’s Conflict of Interest Code, administers oath of office, process claims, serve as financial disclosure officer and as the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) coordinator, maintains compliance with State laws regarding the Brown Act, annexations, legal notices, elections, and Fair Political Practices Commission filings; updates Municipal Code and receives and opens bids. The City Clerk also coordinates the consolidation of the General Municipal Election in even-numbered years in compliance with the California Elections Code.
Mrs. Jeanna Del Real was elected Atwater City Clerk in November 2004. The Assistant City Clerk is Mrs. Lori Waterman.
